Have you ever wondered how your desires or needs could lead you away from God’s plan? The love of money, when left unchecked, can blind us spiritually. Today, I’ll walk you through Balaam’s story and a real-life example from Archbishop Benson Idahosa to show how desires can mislead us.

Balaam’s Story: A Lesson in Spiritual Blindness

In Numbers 22, Balaam was a prophet instructed by God not to curse the Israelites because they were blessed. But King Balak of Moab offered him riches, and Balaam couldn’t resist the temptation.

Despite God’s warnings, Balaam persisted. His greed blinded him so much that he couldn’t see the angel of the Lord blocking his path—though his donkey could (Numbers 22:21-33). Later, Balaam advised Balak to lead the Israelites into sin with Moabite women, which separated them from God’s favor (Numbers 31:16).

Ask yourself: Are you letting material desires cloud your spiritual vision?
