What Really Happened to Uzzah?

The Ark of the Covenant had been in the house of Abinadab, Uzzah’s father, for many years (2 Samuel 6:3). When King David decided to move the Ark to Jerusalem, he entrusted Uzzah and his brother Ahio to oversee its transportation. This seemed logical since they were familiar with the Ark.

David had the Ark placed on a brand-new cart, much like the Philistines had done years before when they returned it to Israel (1 Samuel 6:7-8). The cart was well-crafted and impressive. But here’s the problem: it wasn’t what God commanded.
